Black Kites - 2012 The Last Three Songs

Band : Black Kites
Album : The Last Three Songs
Release Year : 2012
Genre : Hardcore | Punk | Screamo

Tracklist :
1.Trauma
2.Cheap Death
3.Your Turn

This is the final song from them!! After coming home from Europe, they wrote three final songs and thought it a shame to not share them with the world. So, approaching the eve of our demise, here they are for you to enjoy!!!

The Long Goodbye
"Come March of 2012, Black Kites will have cause to acknowledge two important milestones; the first is that the band will have been together for four years, and the second is that March will mark the end of Black Kites. "Why? WHY?!" approximately eight people will type furiously into their keyboards. Well, our lives have changed quite a lot since we started this band in pretty significant ways. What came so naturally and easy to us once does not come so easily anymore and, as we are men unafraid to appraise a situation for what it is, we have decided to put to rest this part of our lives and march bravely into the future.

I think it's important to note that we accomplished quite a lot for a group of three dudes from New Jersey. We recorded a healthy chunk of music, we played (perhaps literally) a million shows, we toured all over one quadrant of this country and almost all of western Europe, and we met some pretty incredible people along the way; people who gave us more help and support than was ever called for, and given unasked. So for those eight people who are shaken and upset, think fondly of our times together and make some plans to be with us at the end.

Now, details are shaky as of now, but we plan to play a final show in March with a healthy host of bands that have been with us for the long-haul. We plan to have a zine with us at the show which will contain a discography CD that includes the last three songs we have written. We plan to make long-winded speeches onstage about the importance of friendship and cooperative effort and the everyday "fight" to secure some small place of comfort in this fucked up world...

But all that comes later, and we'll know more as soon as the moments of importance are upon us.

Until those moments...

Love and Respect,
Jay and Black Kites

Black Kites and Convulsions - 2011 Split

Band : Black Kites and Convulsions
Album : Split
Release Year : 2011
Genre : Chaotic | Hardcore | Sludge

Tracklist :
Black Kites
1. Sleep Easy
2. Tall Tales Low Lifes
3. Used
4. Alive On Arrival
5. Own This Monster
6. Fake Punches

Convulsions
7. Gasoline
8. Decompression Sickness
9. Scrimshaw
10. Marie Laveau
11. Nero And Doryphoros
12. Inhabitants Of 13 Mall Street

Yeah, Finally Black Kites releasing New LP, it's a split EP with convulsions. 12 fresh tracks inside, 6 from Black Kites and 6 from Convulsions. Black Kites is one of my favorite hardcore band, i love their previous album. Well, here in this LP Black Kites is more Agressive and more chaotic then their previous release. All the songs is short (under 2 minutes) but ful of emotion. Well, i never heard of Convulsions before. They're straight edge hardcore band from Rhode Island. Their objective as a band is to create genuine music with the dissonance and chaos representative to real life stresses. Their sounds like early Botch or may be The Dillinger Escape Plan. All in all this split is "awesome".

Release Description:
Slowly churning from an idea among like-minded music mongers to a realistic formality, this kinship between two unique outfits has finally come to fruition. Both trekking from the same school of thought, this split demonstrates how the words "chaotic" and "rhythm" can be used in the same sentence to describe such signature styles. Black Kites moves forward with their aggressive yet emotionally unhinged sound that has taken them years to cultivate. Taking no issues lightly, lyrically BK has proven to be just as harsh and cunning with words as their instrumental infrastructure. As for Convulsions, they have taken on a new forms by flexing their "Prog-Rock" muscles while retaining and perfecting their ongoing, derailing composition. This is truly a match-maid in well, heaven?

Black Kites - 2009 Advancement to Ruins

Band : Black Kites
Album : Advancement to Ruins
Release Year : 2009
Genre : Hardcore / Screamo

Tracklist :
01. Taking My Time
02. Advancement To Ruins
03. Sick Tradition
04. Laundry Room
05. The Sly Fox In A Town Of Idiots
06. February 2nd
07. Twelve Infants
08. Pipe Dream Revolution
09. I Keep Getting Uglier
10. Reminder
11. You Me Us

This is a record best played loud, and it's pretty easy to freak the fuck out to it. Black Kites seamlessly shift from speedy metal-influenced hardcore to slow-lurching rhythms to Converge-inspired guitar parts (see the track "Advancement to Ruin," on their MySpace, one of the highlights of the record) and back throughout the LP, managing to avoid the monotony that's always a danger with this kind of music. The short length doesn't hurt, either. They keep things impressively varied throughout, and it never seems forced, from the gang vocals of "A hunger for greed will bring the end" in "Sick Tradition" to the slow atmospheric interlude fitting between the crushing hardcore of the closing track. It seems like every song has at least one moment that shows the best that this band can offer. The songs are short, and there are only 11 of them, but there isn't a bad spot in there.

The members of Black Kites are straight-edge and vegan/vegetarian, but these themes don't tend to come up in the lyrics much, which I'm sure is a plus to a good deal of people who make certain complaints every time a Propagandhi record comes out. At the same time, don't expect an album full of heartfelt lyrics about the struggles in the singer's life. Don't get me wrong -- those come up, but for the most part, these are songs hearkening back to the grand punk rock tradition of paranoia, disgust and anger. Take "Pipe Dream Revolution," a short blast of metal and hardcore culminating in screams of "Revolution! Just pipe dreams! When preaching! To choirs!" While other bands are busy forgetting that hardcore came from punk rock, Black Kites is making music that's visceral, powerful and important. Here's hoping there's more to come.

Black Kites - 2010 Songs Written While Things Were Changing

Band : Black Kites
Album : Songs Written While Things Were Changing
Release Year : 2010
Genre : Hardcore / Screamo

Tracklist :
01 Masochist
02 Futures
03 8x10 Pollution

Newest release from Black Kites. Pretty much more of the same, which is by no means a bad thing. Great riffs, every song is a rager. If you are into screamy hardcore with metallic riffs, you will like this.
