Got a recommendation from symphonygoin' on my facebook page, and when i check this band out, ogh they're awesome.
OPUS DÄI, a Los Angeles-based band, came into being after founding members Atsushi Miyamoto and Jagger Gonzales disbanded their initial musical act a multi-ethnic, world music influenced band called O.H.M. with an intention to create more focused, heavily prog-influenced music.
OPUS DÄI's sound cultivates a rich and varied aural landscape that is as vast and epic as the bands history. Driving and aggressive in presentation, yet gentle in spirit, there is an epic grace that stokes the fires burning brightly from within this prog metal act. Drawing on influences from Led Zeppelin and Rush to Tool and The Mars Volta, they fill their songs with an incredibly rich diversity, especially by prog metal standards; a genre in which bland stagnation has seemed to become all-too-prevalent.
With a newly reformed line up and plenty of brand new material, OPUS DÄI has continued to progress and grow in style and musical maturity. The future looks bright for this L.A. four-piece, despite the slight pitfalls they have encountered along the way. Thought provoking and dynamic, delivered with plenty of familiar influences and an intensity that always captivates, OPUS DÄI is a force to be reckoned with. Not to be missed.
Btw thanks to symphonygoin' for this one!
