"No newly invented wheel, but not a fifth wheel." So it says in the volume information from Thoughts Paint The Sky. With this announcement the four extremely sympathetic Essen meet the famous nail precisely on the head. Thoughts Paint The Sky make on their third album Nicht Mal Mehr Wir Selbst nothing wrong. The music is in the shark tank full emotionally charged punk and hardcore bands of the brand Turbostaat, Escapado and the already fished with a floating belly up Muff Potter. But unlike the well-respected and feared predators, dare Daniel Senzek, Mario Wolf, Florian Uteschil and Thomas Völtl, in addition to the distinctive use of percussion and bass, all on the strength of their distorted, through a series of effects devices, to put acoustic guitars .

An innovation that not only deserves a special applause, but the part straight rocking, sometimes tricky arranging gives half to seven and a half minutes per song and a unique sound. So far, so convincing. There is still something to Mosern, because it may be worn himself out on the topic vocals. Not only the metaphors and puns easily overloaded German texts will separate fans and rejectors into two camps, also in the long run a little bland scream singing may not be appropriate to eardrums cause nervous twitches. But even that is a matter of taste and your own physical reactions must be well tested in the experiment on himself.

Thoughts Paint The Sky Nicht Mal Mehr Wir Selbst with non-self set the lights, turned off the cruise and will pass them on the fast track to rock many a star-studded night liner. Lovers of German punk profession should therefore quickly become attached to their bumper.

CityCop - 2011 Seasons

Band : CityCop.
Album : Seasons
Release Year : 2011
Genre : Emo | Screamo | Acoustic | Experimental

Tracklist :
1. Bluebird
2. Spring
3. Summer
4. Fall
5. Winter

Well, here's the new records from CityCop, and it's so fucking good. I'm not in the good mood lately and feel so lazy, so i just copying the review from the sputnik music. make sure you buy the CD/tape once it out through L'Amour Records.

Seasons transcends its screamo-wave influence and punches hard, despite not having a single distorted riff or rush of feedback. Just like their debut, Seasons is a stunning mix of acoustic cleans and honest screams. While the introductory track, a fittingly hoarse rendition of Charles Bukowski's classic poem “Bluebird”, might bring up thoughts of La Dispute, the following four tracks, each one named after its related season, transcend their collective influences to create a technically impressive and wholly original sonic experience. Guitarist Max Adam's melodies are absolutely enchanting, eschewing punk tradition and pulling from everything from classical to calypso jazz. It doesn't hurt that the rhythm section follows his lead with the utmost care and precision. Vocalist Eddie Gancos' impassioned wails tie everything back into to their genre framework, doing his part to provide the emotional catharsis one expects for the sound. It all melds together so beautifully. From the bouncy leads of “Spring” through the dread and gloom of “Winter”, CityCop have not only released something that they should be proud of, but something that has the power to propel them to the top of the scene from which they've spawned. -Adam Thomas

He is probably most well known for his vocals alongside Jordan Blilie in the now defunct post-hardcore band, The Blood Brothers. He is currently the vocalist of Jaguar Love. Johnny has also provided vocals for The Vogue, Soiled Doves, and Neon Blonde. His voice has been described by critics at Alternative Press as sounding like "a child being tortured.

Johnny has gone on to remix songs from Jaguar Love, as well as songs by other artists: "Positive Tension" by Bloc Party, Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and a clash of "Heartbeats" by The Knife with The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy". Some of his remixes can be found on his "DJ Johnny Whitney" MySpace page.

In 2010, Johnny provided vocals for Felix Cartal's track "Volcano", featured on the album "Popular Music".

He runs a clothing company called Crystal City Clothing along with his wife Amy Carlsen. On the 21st July, 2010, Johnny released volume 1 of his acoustic mixtapes through Crystal City clothing: "I have been writing acoustic and piano songs for the entirety of my times in both the Blood Brothers and Jaguar Love. Some of these songs have gone on to be BB’s/JL songs (Denver Max, Bats over the Pacific Ocean) but most of them I’ve kept to myself until now. Unlike a lot of the stuff I’ve been doing for the past year or so all of these songs are very heavily anchored in narrative and lyrical content."

The life of a touring musician is filled with a lot of down time, a lot of time spent throwing ideas around about future musical ventures. It's not uncommon to be on a tour bus and hear, "I got it! We should (insert future musical venture here), That would be really cool!" This is the very conversation that Joey Cape and Tony Sly (frontmen of Lagwagon and No Use For A Name) had sometime in the last year. This time the insertion was, "record a split acoustic album!" It's not often that these ideas come to fruition, but this one has and it's called Acoustic! The original idea was to do five catalog songs each, but there had to be something more...try a brand new song from both of them! Acoustic is a chance for fans of both No Use For A Name and Lagwagon to hear some of the bands most popular songs as they were originally written, on an acoustic guitar.

This is the first solo album for both Cape and Sly. The album has been described as "the punk rock's answer to Simon and Garfunkel."
Contributors on the album include Angus Cooke of the Ataris on bass guitar & cello, Brian Mann of Vampire Lovers on accordion, Todd Capps of Bad Astronaut on piano & mellotron, George Pendergast of Dishwalla on congas, Thomas Flowers of Oleander on banjo, and Tim Cullen of Summercamp and Jon Snodgrass of Drag the River on backing vocals.

CityCop. - 2011 The Hope in Forgiving and Giving Up Hope

Band : CityCop.
Album : The Hope in Forgiving and Giving Up Hope
Release Year : 2011
Genre : Emo | Screamo | Acoustic | Experimental

Tracklist :
1.X
2.Ode to Bula/Flight Lessons
3.Free Bird Part II
4.Humanity is Sinking
5.Hink Hall
6.Go West
7.Transgressions
8.Hold Onto Your Seat, Syanne
9.White Roses
10.Street Kings

It started as a duo of Max Adams and Eddie Gancos, in which they played Acoustic/Indie music. Duncan Treen was added on Bass early on, and soon came Cody Mikesell on drums, completely changing their sound. Months of experimenting, progressing, and mixing all of their influences lead to the sound and live show that you see and hear today. A blend of Acoustic/Screamo/Alternative/Jazz/Indie/Latin/whatever that has become this band.

Admit it, for as much as we all like to believe that the screamo and emo genres are something that's original, they are actually pretty stagnant. With the exception of whether a band's approach is atmospheric or violent, chances are their sound doesn't fall too much from the mark of dozens of other bands that formed based on the same aesthetic that's been drifting around in the punk underground for almost as long as this current generation of fans and bands have been alive. But lets face it, the way that a band approaches this collection of similar influences can make all the difference. Ohio's CityCop have all the markings of a quality screamo/emo band – hyperactive drumming, guitar work that switches effortlessly from jagged tremolo picked chords to fluid hammer-ons and back again, and emotive vocals – but they way that they present this familiar make up is actually quite unique.

You see, CityCop are an acoustic band. There's no distorted crunch or tube-driven squeal to be heard on their debut The Hope in Forgiving and Giving Up Hope, which given that guitar based theatrics that rely on a plethora of electric tones have become one of the genre's calling cards as of late, and since those same theatrics are on display here, CityCop have completely flipped the script on this recurring dynamic. It is comfortably familiar yet intriguingly different; a classical flair to a new school catharsis. Songs like “Hink Hall” move like a ballroom dance, elegantly choreographed by the interplay between guitarist Max Adam's whirling lead lines and vocalist Edward Gancos' serrated bark. This sense of motion permeates The Hope in Forgiving and Giving Up and grows more and more as the album progresses, and when coupled with themes of apprehension and growing up found in the lyrics, this forward movement evolves into a head on confrontation with life itself.

The Hope in Forgiving and Giving Up Hope is a captivating listen that tweaks the core sounds of the genre that we are used to in the most pleasing of ways. While it would be foolishly presumptuous and flippant to say that CityCop have reinvented the emotive hardcore wheel, what they have offered up on their debut certainly re-envisions it.
