This is the new 7" from Vancouver's Tempest. This one has two new songs on it, long running and noisy as all hell, they play a heavy and chaotic hardcore that Roger still claims "doesn't sound German." If you are into depressed and blackened European hardcore with a nice metal patina, then this is for you my ridiculous friend. Side one and two of the record (songs cleverly title I & II), traverse a loud atmospheric and elemental tonality, with a nice recording done by the band themselves with plenty of low end and blast thrash for good measure.

Seems like nowadays more and more bands try to combine black metal with other genres. Tempest is not an exception. They remind me of Hierophant, Young And In The Way, The Secret (once again), and even Deafhaven. While the first is a bit closer to punk, the second to hardcore, the third is more of chaotic nature and the fourth is almost a post-rock band, Tempest sound is a mixture of all the mentioned genres. I'm glad they made a free download cause i was looking for it for a long time. Once again Canada confirmed it's status of the country with one of the best underground scene in the world. -frbv
