What do they sound like? A bunch of punk kids who listened to a shitload of indie rock records before recording. Honestly, I’m really not sure what description I can give Cattle Drums that would do the band true justice. On the band’s first release, the five song EP, entitled The Boy Kisser Sessions, originality pours out of every seam. I think Bear Vs. Shark is a good comparison as that band had the same ability as Cattle Drums does to completely change course from song to song yet still sound entirely cohesive. La Dispute is another one that rings true when listening to these guys. This is post hardcore/punk/emo that kicks up a little bit of dust along the way with acoustic guitar and even banjo. One of the most promising bands I have heard in quite some time. Oh, and that album cover? So stinking good!
