OK, with a title like Noise, Noise and More Noise what are you to expect? This EP from Duck Duck Goose (one of the coolest names for a band I've ever heard) is exactly that. But this "noise" sounds pretty good. Its loud and fun. What more could you want?
The "Noise" starts with "Brother John's Revenge" and gets right into it. "Sgt. Slaughter" is another fun track with plenty of breakdowns and experimental bits. Towards the end of the song they even take a change of pace, making you want to sway your head back and forth, but its not long until they get right back into the heavy stuff. This EP also has a couple sound bits, which aren't bad compared to other bands that lay them on way to thick.
The vocals are outstanding compared to most other vocalist in this genre, incorporating everything from sonic high screams to impressive deep growls and even spoken word, which surprisingly, is not annoying. The lyrics on
Noise, Noise and More Noise are quite funny and add to the over all enjoyability of the EP. "I know where I left you on the floor in the bed room / I really thought it was so messed up when she slapped you in the face."
Duck Duck Goose possess some great band members. Its evident that everybody has extreme talent and put everything they could possibly come up with on this EP. The guitarists play outstanding leads and put a twist on the formula you're so used to hearing. This great work would be nothing if it weren't for their drummer, as he backs up the guitarist well and tosses in creative fills that you aren't used to hearing. "Wonderful Wizard Of LSD" is a great example of everyone in the band doing their job and doing it well.
If you have lost your faith in bands like Heavy Heavy Low Low or I Set My Friends On Fire (I don't know why you would have hope in them in the first place), fear not: Duck Duck Goose has put out a great EP.
Noise, Noise and More Noise is 25 minutes of pure chaos, and I can't wait to hear a full length from these men.
