So Hideous, My Love presents an extremely interesting concept, one that really hasn't been touched by many musicians. They combine hardcore music with classical sounding compositions. Violins and delicate guitar sections meet up with blaring riffs, crushing drums, and screamed vocals. It is a unique formula, and it's a formula that works extremely well.

The compositions and layouts of each song are very well done, and well performed. Every song starts off with a slow build up of violins, then quiet electric guitars come into the picture. Eventually, things hit an intense climax, the lead vocalist belts scream after unintelligible scream. On top of all the insane concepts that So Hideous, My Love has been using so far, the lead vocalist uses his voice as more of an instrument. He screams notes, at least that's how it sounds. If he is screaming words, they are difficult to discern, aside from what appears to be," Left right, left, left, right." in the song entitled: Lock and Key. Every instrument is talking to another instrument, while the vocalist almost dictates the entire orchestra of modern and classical instruments with his cries of pain. Nothing is out of place.
Within every single song you have a brilliant use of layering. The violins that start the song find themselves at the very bottom of the stack, then on top of them the quiet electric guitars, then the louder electric guitars, then the pulsating drums, then the vocalist sits at the very top.

The thing that I love most about So Hideous, My Love, apart from their unique musical style, is the emotion of the singer. Some of his yells are drawn out, long, and agonizing. Others are quick, short, and reflect a sort of sharp pain. It's brilliant. The crazy thing about So Hideous, My Love is the fact that this is their first release. Most bands could not even dream of sounding this incredible by the end of their career. However, So Hideous, My Love manages to pull off sounding perfect on their first release.
Though this EP is short, (clocking in at only 15:38) and there are only three songs on the album, it's clear that So Hideous, My Love has immense talent.
