Genghis Tron is a three-piece band from Poughkeepsie, NY.
The trio formed in early 2004 where they met as students at Vassar College. They recorded a demo in 2004 entitled Laser Bitch, and released their debut EP Cloak Of Love the following year.
Part Grindcore, part Experimental Electronica, and all amazing, Cloak of Love is the definition of the word 'unique'. Songs will go from blast beats and math riffs to hip hop beats and ambient electronica and back again in a way that makes it seem like it's the most natural thing in the world. If you savvy yourself a fan of Grindcore you need to give this a listen. If you like electronic music but aren't that fond of spasticly fast drums or screaming vocals I would still say you should give this a shot. The Grindcore is what carries the EP, but it's done in such a way that's not as overly abrasive as you would expect it to be. Genghis Tron is one of the very few heavy bands thats just avant-garde enough to have a fan base in the Hipster crowd as well as among Grindcore fans...that's saying something right there.
