Coming off a highly successful appearance at the 2008 Next Big Nashville rock festival, Gnarwhal is currently working on the follow-up to their acclaimed debut Seahemoth and prepping for an extended winter tour. Having played with niche rock favorites including Jeff the Brotherhood, Experimental Dental School, Psyopus, and others, Gnarwhal has evolved from an experimental lineup featuring drums and dueling guitars to a four-piece wall of sound that displays elements of Hella , Don Caballero, The Melvins, Russian Circles, and a variety of bands of the post-punk genre and beyond.
Young and energetic, Gnarwhal has built a strong regional following from its base in Nashville using the time-tested formula of great songs, great playing, and guitars turned up just a little too loud.
“If breakneck guitar riffs, caffeinated tempos, nonlinear song structures, and howling vocals aren’t your cup of tea, Gnarwhal might send you running for the hills, or it might expand your musical landscape.” (KDHX Radio, St. Louis.)
These “noisy conquistadors of the house-show circuit” have also shared the stage (or floor) with: Giant Squid, Prizzy Prizzy Please, Evil Bebos, Meemaw, Turbo Fruits, Realicide, Caddywhompus, Terrible Twos, Sunglasses, and many more.
